She has helped to secure support from private and corporate foundations, and local (LA), state (CA) and federal (US) funders. Barbara has a broad background shaping compelling stories for for-profit companies, nonprofits, and more than 100 trade and consumer brands. She has experience in public relations, creative services, marketing and promotion, and grant writing and administration. Before assuming her role at LACI, Barbara helped to secure more than $6 million in grant funds from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the National Science Foundation for “Splash and Bubbles,” a marine science-based program for young learners produced by The Jim Henson Company in Los Angeles. She holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and is an aspiring minimalist in a family of “But I might need that someday!” keepers.
