Going for Gold

A Blueprint to Catalyze Medium- and Heavy-Duty Charging Infrastructure Investments in the Los Angeles Region Preceding the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Los Angeles region has an opportunity to transform transportation by the time of the 2028 Games.

This report lays out a framework to integrate zero emissions solutions into the 2028 Games, and catalyze investment in charging infrastructure that will benefit the region long after the summer of 2028. Broadly, these recommendations fall into five buckets.

School bus depot electrification
Transit bus depot electrification
Energy and transportation hubs at municipal airports
Mobile energy and charging assets for last mile transportation
EV-integrated fleet management service

With less than four years until the Games, implementing the recommendations contained in the Blueprint will be critical to meeting the transportation needs of the Games while also expanding long-term zero emissions solutions that will improve air quality and public health for Angelenos.

Transformation of this magnitude will take policy initiatives and funding programs to deploy the charging infrastructure and procure the buses, trucks, and energy assets. We will continue to collaborate with regional stakeholders to execute this vision.
