Green Jobs Business Operations Training Courses Overview

During this free 5-7 week Business Operations Training Course, participants engage in learning about the business operations support necessary to bolster the green economy.  Previous training courses have focused on Project Management, Business Development, and IT Support. In addition to administrative training, participants strengthen their interpersonal skills and gain experience in problem-solving, teamwork, communication, listening, and creative development.  Participants also receive 1 on 1 mentorship with a Practitioner-in-Residence for career coaching and interview skills. 

After the training, participants have the opportunity to be placed in a three month paid internship at a LACI partner company.  As part of the program, fellows receive twelve months of job retention follow-up service and entry- and mid-level career placement support. 

Our programs specialize in helping people get their foot in the door of the green economy. Successful program participants have taken jobs including a Field Sales Consultant at Sunrun, Fellowships with the California Climate Action Corps, a Transportation Planning Manager at Metro, a Data Architect Consultant at GreenWealth Energy, a Customer Service and Driver Onboarding Specialist at Hive, Public Works / Fleet Division support at the City of Santa Monica, and an Environmental Compliance Inspector at LA Sanitation.

Green Jobs Technical Fellowships Overview

During this free 7-8 week Technical Fellowship, participants engage in hands-on technical training in emerging clean technologies.  Previous fellowship programs have focused on Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Maintenance, Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), and Microgrid Maintenance. In addition to technical training, participants also strengthen their interpersonal skills and gain experience in problem-solving, teamwork, communication, listening, and creative development.  Participants also receive 1 on 1 mentorship with a Practitioner-in-Residence for career coaching and interview skills. 

After the training, participants have the opportunity to be placed in a three month paid internship at a LACI partner company.  As part of the program, students receive twelve months of job retention follow-up service and entry- and mid-level career placement support.

Successful outcomes from our Green Jobs Technical Fellowships include a Warehouse & Parts Coordinator at SEA Electric, a Service Technician at Tesla, a Substation Project Manager Intern at LADWP, an Apprentice in HVAC, Architectural Design and Welding with Local 105, a Bike Technician at Pedal Movement, and a Robotics Technician at GrayMatter Robotics.
