Zero Emissions Trucks for Goods Movement RFI

Issued in collaboration with California Air Resources Board and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Request for Information (RFI) for Zero Emission Trucks, Pilots, and Infrastructure for Goods Movement issued by the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator in collaboration with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

The Purpose

As part of an effort to accelerate the Southern California goods movement sector’s transition to zero emissions, the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), in collaboration with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, has issued an RFI for Zero Emission Trucks, Pilots and Infrastructure for Goods Movement.

  • Gain insight into the current and future state of zero emission heavy duty truck technologies, along with related infrastructure needs;
  • Understand where synergies and partnerships might exist between organizations for ZE truck deployment, infrastructure, and concepts for pilots;
  • Inform CARB and other policymakers in their design of future incentive programs

Response Requested

We are seeking responses in the following areas:

  • ZEV Truck Offerings: current and future offerings for short-range and long-range Class 8 drayage trucks, and medium- to heavy-duty battery electric trucks for urban freight and delivery.
  • Zero Emission Trucks Pilot Concepts: submissions for the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach 50 to 100 zero emissions drayage truck joint pilot, and other proposed types of pilots that address gaps in performance, infrastructure, business models, etc.
  • EV Infrastructure Pilots: pilot project submissions that address identified needs for ZEV infrastructure needs along the I-710 and other major freight corridors and pinch points such as along the I-5 and the Grapevine.

Who should apply?

We encourage any and all of the following types stakeholders interested in partnering with the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), to respond individually or in partnership with others, including, but not limited to:
  • Truck or technology manufacturers that are developing zero emission trucks
  • Truck Brokers
  • Logistics Operators
  • Station equipment designers
  • Utilities
  • Fuel providers
  • Other stakeholders on issues related to zero emission trucks.

Deadline

Responses to this RFI are due to LACI by Monday, November 5, 2018 and 5:00PM Pacific Time.
