Marlayna has been passionate about the environment since she first heard wild tales of her uncle’s adventures saving the whales as a founder of Greepeace in the late 1960s. Since leaving her hometown of Vancouver, Canada to attend college in Los Angeles, Marlayna has been focused on how to support green business practices and clean technology adoption. Marlayna currently holds the position of Partnerships Manager at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), a nonprofit committed to creating a sustainable and equitable future by supporting the commercialization of clean technologies. Marlayna develops and manages LACI’s diverse and extensive network of organizations including universities, research institutions, government entities, entrepreneurs, corporate partners, non-profits, investors and business leaders. Marlayna graduated with a BS in Environmental Studies from University of Southern California and on the weekends you can usually find her hiking in the Angeles National Forest or exploring new neighborhoods of LA.
Marlayna helps develop a network of clean tech stakeholders in the greater Los Angeles region in her partnerships role at LACI. She has been with the team since the early days and has experienced the organization’s growth from a small non-profit with humble beginnings in a renovated bus repair terminal to an ecosystem convener at the epicenter of the La Kretz Innovation Campus, home to over 100 green businesses.
