You are invited to join us at our next quarterly series of Cluster Meetings on May 31st at the La Kretz Innovation Campus. This upcoming round of cluster meetings will include updates on programming in the respective clusters, industry briefings, and presentations from LACI portfolio companies.
Additionally, we are mixing things up this Spring! To encourage cross-collaboration, we will be linking the Energy and Water cluster meetings through a thought-provoking lunch panel discussion on the impacts of increased hydro-power this winter on the “duck curve”.
11:00AM – 12:00PM – Energy Cluster Meeting: Featuring the launch of LA’s Regional Energy Innovation Cluster
12:00PM – 1:00PM – Joint Panel: “Rainy Days and a Fat Duck: How will this winter’s water impact energy generation in California?” Featuring speakers from Cal ISO, MWD, Southern California Edison and more.
1:00PM – 2:00PM – Water Cluster Meeting: Featuring updates from our new partners Carollo, ARGO Labs and Advantageous Systems
Feel free to come for any or all of the programming that interests you!
There will be an impact of increased hydro-power generation on California’s electric grid after one of the wettest years in recent memory. As our reservoirs refill and reach capacity they go into “spill mode,” thereby generating power that can’t be turned off. Grid operators are concerned that this may exacerbate the challenge posed by the imbalance of electric supply and demand over the course of the day known as the “duck curve”.
